Photography Course in Ringwood

 Description

What does the course cover?
The Aims -
-To introduce photographic skills and computer skills necessary for the production of photographic work of an artistic and documentary nature
-To introduce students to the work of artists who have played a major role in the development of photographic arts.
-To introduce students to a basic History of Photography.
-To introduce students to practitioners who have played a major role in the creative development of photography for the editorial and advertising media.
-To introduce students to the role of photography in the media.
-To develop students' folios of work based on projects set within the course and from work produced by students independently.
-To inculcate an awareness of the possible vocational routes available and the advantages and disadvantages of each.
-To critically analyse the work of practitioners and artists in the field and the students 'own work, towards an understanding of composition and structure and deconstruction of images.

The Objectives -
-Produce and present work of an artistic and documentary nature.
-Have a understanding of the basic History of Photography.
-Be able to demonstrate a knowledge of artists and practitioners in the field.
-Be able to demonstrate a basic knowledge of the photographic industry.
-Be able to demonstrate and discuss a working knowledge of photographic technical skill and skills with digital imaging and the appropriate computer program.
-Be able to critically analyse photographic images.

 Suitability

A course for students with a sound knowledge of the basics of photography wishing to progress towards a better understanding of photographic technique and an understanding of the critical analysis of photography.  This will be achieved through talks about well known artists and practitioners of photography, through demonstrations and practical projects set by the tutor and self initiated projects and discussion.



 Additional information

Notebook and pens/pencils.
A camera which may be film or digital
A digital snapshot camera is acceptable (but will have a limited value with regard to the practice and understanding of photographic technique).
A camera with some access to manual control is preferable.
