New Printer

Hi,

Just like to say a great big thank you to all the people who responded to me

about their experiences with their printers. I was amazed at both the quantity

of responses and the genuine desire to be helpful.

It became clear fairly quickly that Epson is the make of choice for most people,

and also that some are still performing well even though they are a few years old,

much as mine was.

It has filled me with the confidence to go out and buy Epson again.

Which one was recommended by most users?............. The R3000.

Nobody ever said that this was going to be cheap!!

Having done a bit (no, a lot, of research) there is one piece of advice that I found out

purely by chance. It may be useful to others contemplating a similar purchase.

To buy this from Amazon appeared to be over £100 cheaper than other retailers, but

it didn’t include any ink!!! Assuming that you are going to need ink, too, it is over £60

cheaper to buy from Epson themselves.

Buyer beware.

My thanks again to all respondents.

Phil.

There is to be a service to commemorate Jack’s life, this will be held at Wessex Vale Crematorium, Bubb Lane, West End, Southampton on Wed. 21st May at 3.15p.m.

Please no black ties   - it was his wish.

Family flowers only please - donations in memory of Jack to F8, Stroke Ward, Southampton General Hospital, may be sent to Waterside Funeral Home, 13-15 The Marsh, Hythe, Hants. SO45 6AJ.
FROM THE WEST
Leave the motorway on the M27 at junction 7 sign posted Hedge End A334. Take the 1st Exit of the roundabout signposted Retail park industrial estate. Botley A334. At the 1st roundabout take the 1st exit. You will then need to go straight across the next 5 roundabouts whereby you will pass Currys and PC World on your left and Wicks on your right. After 300 yrds take your 1st left into Bubb Lane. Wessex Vale Crematorium is 100 yds on your right hand side.

Afterwards everyone is welcome to join the family at the Macdonald Botley Park Hotel, Winchester Rd, Boorley Green, SO32 2VA for light refreshments. Maps can be provided.

Victoria, his granddaughter,  has suggested we have a ‘Memory Book’ there for people to record their ‘memory’ of Jack – humorous or otherwise.   Please bring something with you, write it on the day or even later, but the book will then be something  for the family to treasure and keep.

If you are unable to attend but would still like to write something for the book then please send to me and I will ensure it is passed onto the family.

New Printer

Hi,

Looking for some advice from fellow readers.
My printer has given up the ghost.
I've been used to Epson for the last 20 years, and I've looked at their range. If anyone has any experience of their A3 or A3+ models, I'd be delighted to hear your experiences and recommendations. If you have had a wonderful experience with printers from other manufacturers then I'd be delighted to hear about that too. And finally, if there is a model that you have had a nightmare with, and would advise me to avoid, then I'd like to hear from you too.
Please contact me by email, or through the club secretary if you don't have my address.

I will appreciate any help you can give me.

Many thanks

Phil.

DI Group Thames Valley Centre: Next event 18 May: Dr Tony Kaye and PDI Competition

SUNDAY 18 MAY 2014
'Getting Value from your Pixels' with Dr Tony Kaye

A focus on the resolution of the human eye and how that translates into how many pixels are really needed for high quality prints. What governs the effective number of pixels? A look at anti-alias or low pass filters, and whether the effective number of pixels is governed more by optical and software considerations, than the number of pixels on your camera's sensor.

This is followed by our annual PDI competition, judged by Micki Aston

Woosehill Community Hall
