"Total Photography Workout" Jeff Morgan

This is an inspirational talk at Viewfinders Club on 5th February 2013 at the right time of the year when our creativity may have become jaded by the prolonged grey weather.

The cost for guests and visitors is only £3.

Jeff is a professional photographer who lives in Bath, England. He started his photography company, Elm Studio, in USA in 2002 and in the early days focused mostly on architectural and location photography. Lately Jeff’s love of teaching has resulted in his photographic tutorials being published extensively in PhotoPlus. His images and articles have also appeared in Practical Photoshop, Digital Camera, TechRadar and other photographic magazines in Europe, USA and China.

As someone who is continually practicing his craft, Jeff finds it important to study and stay up-to date. Some of his recent assignments have included star trails, light painting, reenactments, time-lapse and low-level aerial photography. He enjoys sharing his photographic expertise with others and likes to blend a photographer’s technique with an artist’s creative hand. His workshops blend both creative and technical aspects of photography and provide the chance to explain complex technical concepts in ways that students easily grasp.

See Jeff's web site www.elmstudio.com.

A New Year, and a New Name

A message from the President of the Southern Federation Glyn Edmunds

Many of you will be aware that our current name – i.e. the Southern Photographic Federation (SPF) causes quite a lot of confusion. At PAGB level we are the SF or Southern Federation and that is how we appear in the PAGB Handbook. The Scottish Photographic Federation is listed at the SPF.
There are a number of federations around the country all of which feature ‘Counties’. As in :
Midland Counties Photographic Federation (MCPF)
Northern Counties Photographic Federation (NCPF)
Western Counties Photographic Federation (WCPF)
And finally :
Kent County Photographic Association (KCPA)
All of these roll nicely off the tongue in terms of initials.
It has been suggested that it would be a great idea to switch to Southern Counties Photographic Federation (SCPF). This would remove the confusion which currently exists vis a vis federations and the PAGB.
The Council have spent some time debating this matter, have decided it is a really good idea and will propose that the Reps are asked to ratify the change at the next meeting at Littleton on Tuesday 12th February. So clubs should discuss this before that date.
The timing is ideal as we would be just in time to reflect the new name in the 2014/15 PAGB Handbook which is due to be published in the autumn.
It would also be a great opportunity for a graphic designer in one of our clubs to come up with a new logo to reflect the new name. I think the Federation coffers could even stretch to a bottle of wine for the designer of the accepted design. So, please get thinking about this one.
If anyone has any queries about the proposed change then please get in touch with any member of the Council before 12th February.
