Jane Bown: Exposures at Discovery Centre, Winchester

23 March - 20 May
An exhibition of portraits from one of Britain’s most significant photojournalists.

Jane Bown has been taking portraits for the Observer newspaper since the late 1940s. Working almost exclusively in black and white, her insightful portraits are immediately recognisable and many have become classics of the genre.

The exhibition will include her iconic images of Samuel Beckett, Bjork and HM The Queen as well as a wealth of unknown portraits from the 1950s and 60s. The exhibition and accompanying book demonstrates why Bown is so widely regarded as the finest portrait photographer of her generation.
