The International Federation of Photographic Art REGULATION of FIAP WORLD CUP OF CLUBS
1. ORGANISATION
The participation to the FIAP World cup of clubs is open to all photo clubs whether FIAP members or not.
Operational members cannot participate.
It can be organised by an ILFIAP Club, a club who won the last World Cup or by a FIAP´s operational member.
2. FUNCTIONING
Upon request of a FIAP operational member or an ILFIAP club to the Director of the World cup Service,
FIAP Directory Board decides to entrust the organisation of the world cup to the candidate.
The Director of the World Cup Service is in charge of the coordination, in tight collaboration with FIAP Directory Board. In particular, he is in charge of the practical execution of the event and takes any necessary initiative in order to ensure the correct functioning of the World cup.
The written applications for the organisation of the World cup are to be addressed to the Director of the World Cup Service, at least 9 months before the closure date.
The World Cup Service will send in return a questionnaire to be completed and to be returned, at least 6 months before the closure date. This questionnaire will provide all precisions needed for the organisation (closure date, period of exhibition or projection, sending of the catalogue, etc.).
Any FIAP´s country member, can organise the World cup without any priority as long as they fulfil the conditions. After submission of their application, the countries or club’s applicants will be informed of their acceptation as organiser for all or part of the World cup.
In the absence of any application in the mentioned period, the World cup will be organised by the
Director of the World Cup Service, in a location that he will submit to the approval of the Directory Board.
3. PARTICIPATION
The participation to the World cup consists in 20 works per Club with a maximum of 2 works per author.
No judge can be member of a participating Club nor can he submit a photo in the competition. Photos
accepted in previous World cups cannot be newly submitted. Each author can participate in one Club
only. International teams in the participating club are not allowed. Nevertheless, one foreign participant is allowed in each club. Failure to comply to this regulation will result in the disqualification of the Club, even if it is observed after the judgment, a sanction will be decided by the FIAP´s Directory Board.
Additionally, all awards received will then have to be returned to FIAP.
The files for the projection and for the realisation of a catalogue should respect the following conditions:- in RGB- format JPG- compression 10 or 8- 2400 pixels’ minimum for the greatest dimension
All types and creative procedures are admitted, can be in B&W and in colour. No coherence is needed among the pictures.

2 Each club selects the works (the collection) they wish to present. The images are to be sent to the
World Cup Service through WeTransfer.com or, by default, shipped on a CD-ROM by non-certified postal mail.
The address of destination will be mentioned on the convocation; no other address will be permitted. The Director of the World Cup Service will send a receipt by email to notify acceptance and good reception of the documentation and files to each club, after verification of their content.
Participation to the World cup is free of charge for ILFIAP Clubs.
The other clubs will pay participation fees; the amount and modalities of payment of the fees will be set by decision of the Directory Board, and indicated in the World Cup registration form.
4. JURY
The Operational member (or the ILFIAP Club) responsible for the judgement of the World cup of clubs convoke a jury of 3 persons coming from 3 different countries (one president et two members) as well as 3 substitutes. No judge can be from the organising country.
For the composition of the jury, the operational member may call upon a photographer of merit, amateur or professional. He should ensure that the jury has a perfect knowledge of international photography.
The members of the jury are exclusively chosen by the FIAP´s Directory Board.
The list of the jury members’ names has to appear on the registration form. Once the decision of the jury is set and approved, all of the judges have to sign off the result of the competition.
5. REUNION OF THE JURY
The reunion of the jury takes place according to the instructions of the organising Federation, in
agreement with the Director of the Service. The work of the jury and the results have to be finished and published in the respect of the date provided in the registration form.
6. WORK OF THE JURY
Each picture of a collection is presented individually and judged for its own value. It is recommended to mix artwork from different collections.
Every one of the 3 jury members has 9 points at his disposal for each artwork. The scoring of each work is the result of the addition of the points of the 3 jury members (therefore maximum 27, minimum 3).
The scoring of the collection is the result of the cumulative points of the 20 pieces of the collection
(therefore a maximum of 540).
The collection with the highest score wins the World cup of Clubs. In case of equality of points among clubs competing for the 4 first places of the classification, the jury members must take a decision, otherwise the vote of the President of the jury is decisive.
In addition to the World cup, the following prizes are awarded:- To the club in second position: FIAP gold medal- To the club in third position: FIAP silver medal- to the club in fourth position: FIAP bronze medal- from 5th to 10th position: FIAP Honourable mention
Every author of the club winning the World cup receives an Honourable mention.
At the end of the competition, the jury will award 1 FIAP gold medal, 2 FIAP silver medals and 3 FIAP bronze medals, for the recognition of a work of exceptional quality.
Each jury member will nominate his own very favourite work.
The jury can decide additionally to award up to 5 specialised mentions: portrait, countryside, creativity, etc.
Each author can only receive one award.
7. TASKS OF THE PERSONS RESPONSIBLE FOR THE WORLD CUP AFTER THE JUDGEMENT
As soon as the judgement is over, the Organisation Board of the World cup of clubs sends the following elements to the Director of the World Cup Service:
1) the list of classification of clubs
2) the list of awarded photographers
3) the photo file with all notes
4) the original file of all the award-winning photos
These elements should only be sent by email and for the photo files, by WeTransfer.com.
The result sheet will be signed by the 3 judges
8. FINAL CLASSIFICATION, AWARD OF THE GRAND PRIZE « MAURICE DORIKENS »
The club obtaining the best result in the past 5 consecutive FIAP World cups is awarded the Grand Prize Maurice Dorikens. The Director of the World Cup Service is in charge of determining the recipient of this prize based on the synthesis of the results of the past five preceding years.
The calculation mode is as follows; each club receives a number of points based on its rank:- 10 points for the first- 9 points for the second- And so on, down to one point for the 10th place.- in case of tie, the Clubs receive the same number of points- All clubs ranked after the 10th place receive no point.
The points obtained on 5 years are calculated for each club and the one having received the highest
number of points is awarded the grand prize « Maurice Dorikens ».
In case of tie, priority is given to the club with the best result for one (or several) of the 5 concerned
World cups.
In case of perfect equality, the difference will be made based on the individual prizes. The
announcement of the final classification will be given during the award ceremony.
9. EXHIBITION AND PROJECTION
The Organisation Board responsible for a World cup must organise at least one public projection of the accepted images and, if possible, exhibits a selection of the pictures of the 10 first clubs and the award winning images.
The printing should be made from the original files sent by the clubs. The exhibitions should be done in the best conditions: framing of the pictures, good lighting, indication of the clubs, country and author, etc.
The images should be presented club by club.
10. RESPONSIBILITY OF THE FEDERATION OR THE CLUB ORGANISING THE WORLD CUP
The Organizing Board wishing to take in charge the organisation of the World cup of clubs has to
subscribe to a formal commitment to be sent to the Director of the World Cup Service, with copy to FIAP
General Secretary.
This federation or club gives guarantees for:
1) the judgement
2) the attribution of the World cup (object, cup, artwork or other) in case it would not be provided by
FIAP.
3) the organisation of the projection and of the exhibition (eventually) of the World cup
4) the respect of the calendar published in the registration form
5) Public delivery of prizes
11- ORGANISATION OF THE TRAVEL OF THE WORLD CUP OF CLUBS
After the exhibition, the World cup may travel within the organising country. However, the places where the exhibition will travel should be mentioned in the announcement of the World cup. Both the exhibitions and the projections of the world cup can travel for a maximum of 6 months.
12- CATALOG
A downloadable catalogue in PDF will be created with the same rules as for a FIAP salon. Before any
publication it will be obligatory validated by FIAP Directory Board. It will include:
a) the list of the prize-winning works
b) the classification of the clubs 4c) the reproduction of all accepted works
The catalogue will be downloadable during the exhibition or immediately after.
In case of the on-line publication of a paper catalogue, the reproduction of colour work should be in
colour. Only a selection of the works of the first 10 clubs having been accepted will be reproduced in the paper catalogue (preferably one photo accepted per author) as well as the award-winning works.
13- FEES
FIAP will pay for the expenses related to the transportation of the jury members from their place of
residence to the place of judgement as well as their lodging and their food expenses.
About printing work and private viewing, FIAP will pay a maximum of 600 € according to invoice.
FIAP provides the Trophy Maurice Dorikens, the FIAP medals as well as the FIAP honourable mentions
14- REGISTRATION FORMS
The invitations and registration forms are provided by FIAP Service of the World cup of clubs at least 4 months before the beginning of the event. They include all necessary details of the event.
For every World cup, one copy of the registration forms is sent to the address specified on the invitation, preferably by WeTransfer.com.
15- FIAP DISTINCTIONS
ILFIAP Clubs will receive 5 points of acceptation for the mere fact of participating and this in order to obtain the Club CAFIAP and CEFIAP distinctions.
16- COPYRIGHT
It is strongly recommended to the participants to conform to the copyright rules.
By sending their works to the World cup of clubs, the authors authorise the reproduction, free of charge, of their works on all documents related to the promotion of the event, including print and broadcast media.
This authorisation includes any subsequent use of the pictures by FIAP as part of FIAP activities.
17- COMMUNICATION OF RESULTS
The results of the World cup will be sent (only to the participating clubs) by the Service World cup at the date indicated on the registration form. The global results and the 10 individual’s results are
subsequently sent to all FIAP members by the General Secretary.
18- FINAL CLAUSE
All exceptional cases or cases not covered by the present regulation will be settled by decision of FIAP Directory Board.
The present regulation was published by the Service World cup of clubs.
