Marina Speed International Photobook Exhibition Entries for the International Photobook Exhibition are arriving at an increased rate in this last month for submission. Entries that are posted by 31 July will be accepted. In addition to those from the UK, there continue to be many from overseas, most recently from Brazil, Japan, Greece and Russia. Member Offer: Fox Talbot: Dawn of the Photograph This exhibition at London's Media Space at the Science Museum looks at the work of  William Henry Fox Talbot who revolutionised culture and communications by inventing the negative-positive process, a technique that formed the basis of photography around the world for over 150 years and immortalised him as father of the photograph.    Discover the influence Talbot’s revolutionary technology, techniques and practices had on his contemporary practitioners – Anna Atkins, Hill and Adamson, and Calvert Jones – and see original prints from his seminal publication 'The Pencil of Nature' alongside the oldest surviving daguerrotypes by fellow photography pioneer Louis Daguerre. Exhibition: Lenses on a Landscape GeniusLancelot 'Capability' Brown (1716-1783) This exhibition which runs until 26 August looks at the landscapes of 'Capability' Brown through the work of contemporary photographers. Hat Fair Salisbury Camera Club Summer Outing

The response to my email regarding the Salisbury Camera Club Summer Outing have been very disappointing.

10 members saying they are unable to attend.
This makes it not viable to run as a group event, we are sorry about this.

As a result of this Members wishing to go will need to make their own arrangements.

Big Canon Lens for Sale

I’m a commercial photographer now shooting almost completely on Hasselblad but have a 400 2.8 canon lens, sat in it’s box collecting dust, the lens is in mint condition and has not been used much, looking to sell it and thought someone from your club may find it of value?
Comes with a protective black rubber coating sock to protect the lens surface, a extra built in slot polarising filter and a wembley tripod head stand which all big lens use to hang the lens/camera on, the wembley stand alone is normally £500. Also thrown in is a 1.4 x extension tube.

Selling the bundle for £3600. plus VAT. (I'm a business so have to charge vat sadly. Invoice / recipes supplied.)

Volunteers at the Hospital Needed

I have donated two old hearing aids that were made by a company I worked for many years ago. They are for the Hospital Museum.

Did you know they had a museum? No I did not and neither do many Hospital employees.

Finally I tracked down Lesley Meaker and she gratefully accepted my gift.

I then found that Lesley has manged to get an HLF grant for the History Project. For this Volunteers are needed. I have pasted below some of the information about this project. If you are interested - and it looks very interesting -  then contact Lesley [details below].

Salisbury City Council is hosting a mega-birthday party for HRH the Queen from noon on 12 June at Queen Elizabeth Gardens – where else!
There will be music, a hog roast, bouncy castles, tea and cake and much, much more. So pack a picnic and join in the fun. 12- 4.00pm, be there or you may go to the Tower of London!
Well done Salisbury City Council, it promises to be a memorable day.

Secret Spitfire Production in Salisbury

It has finally been revealed that several hundred Spitfires were made in Salisbury during WW2. The Salisbury Journal has a report on this today. The report says that a film explains all the details.

Andrew Yates Exhibition at Fisherton Mill 6 to 29 May

Exhibitions at Fisherton Mill

Photographer Andrew Yates is showcasing a selection of his eye-catching animal portraits at Salisbury’s Fisherton Mill this May.
Yates is a former fashion photographer, but a move to the countryside has led him to turn to animal photography, and he now brings the same intensity of gaze to the animal kingdom that he used to photograph the fashion world.
The exhibition features a range of powerful animal portraits, with subjects including delightfully hairy Highland cattle, a group of inquisitive-looking stags, nervy terriers and pensive horses. There is also a dramatic image of an African white-backed vulture taken at the The Hawk Conservancy Trust, Andover, as part of a conservation project to save this endangered bird.
Over forty framed photographs, in black and white and colour, will be on display alongside a series of mounted prints, greeting cards and a range of soft furnishings printed with distinctive animal images.
