Here’s what last year’s winner, Andy Ferrington, had to say about having his image featured on last year's card: "I entered the RPS membership card competition last year as a reasonably new member, and was delighted to be short-listed let alone win! I had a few images that sprung to mind for such a competition, and being honest the chosen image wasn't the same image I had personal hopes for. "All Aboard" was an all time favourite of mine from travelling around India some years ago. Looking at it always reminds me of all those emotions that travelling conjures, and my eyes always drift to the boys smile.

It was an honour to have this image chosen by the RPS, and especially for it to be displayed on its membership card. I received my own card just this week, and was delighted to turn it over and see not just my name, but one of my all time favourite shots."

FIAP WORLD CUP

FIAP regulations

HERE are the Regulations
FEDERATION INTERNATIONALE DE L'ART PHOTOGRAPHIQUE
The International Federation of Photographic Art  REGULATION of FIAP WORLD CUP OF CLUBS
1. ORGANISATION
The participation to the FIAP World cup of clubs is open to all photo clubs whether FIAP members or not.
Operational members cannot participate.
It can be organised by an ILFIAP Club, a club who won the last World Cup or by a FIAP´s operational member.

2. FUNCTIONING
Upon request of a FIAP operational member or an ILFIAP club to the Director of the World cup Service,
FIAP Directory Board decides to entrust the organisation of the world cup to the candidate.
The Director of the World Cup Service is in charge of the coordination, in tight collaboration with FIAP Directory Board. In particular, he is in charge of the practical execution of the event and takes any necessary initiative in order to ensure the correct functioning of the World cup.
The written applications for the organisation of the World cup are to be addressed to the Director of the World Cup Service, at least 9 months before the closure date.
The World Cup Service will send in return a questionnaire to be completed and to be returned, at least 6 months before the closure date. This questionnaire will provide all precisions needed for the organisation (closure date, period of exhibition or projection, sending of the catalogue, etc.).
Any FIAP´s country member, can organise the World cup without any priority as long as they fulfil the conditions. After submission of their application, the countries or club’s applicants will be informed of their acceptation as organiser for all or part of the World cup.
In the absence of any application in the mentioned period, the World cup will be organised by the
Director of the World Cup Service, in a location that he will submit to the approval of the Directory Board.

3. PARTICIPATION
The participation to the World cup consists in 20 works per Club with a maximum of 2 works per author.
No judge can be member of a participating Club nor can he submit a photo in the competition. Photos
accepted in previous World cups cannot be newly submitted. Each author can participate in one Club
only. International teams in the participating club are not allowed. Nevertheless, one foreign participant is allowed in each club. Failure to comply to this regulation will result in the disqualification of the Club, even if it is observed after the judgment, a sanction will be decided by the FIAP´s Directory Board.
Additionally, all awards received will then have to be returned to FIAP.
The files for the projection and for the realisation of a catalogue should respect the following conditions:
- in RGB- format JPG- compression 10 or 8- 2400 pixels’ minimum for the greatest dimension
All types and creative procedures are admitted, can be in B&W and in colour. No coherence is needed among the pictures.

DOC 015 / 2017 E
2 Each club selects the works (the collection) they wish to present. The images are to be sent to the
World Cup Service through
WeTransfer.com or, by default, shipped on a CD-ROM by non-certified postal mail.
The address of destination will be mentioned on the convocation; no other address will be permitted. The Director of the World Cup Service will send a receipt by email to notify acceptance and good reception of the documentation and files to each club, after verification of their content.
Participation to the World cup is free of charge for ILFIAP Clubs.
The other clubs will pay participation fees; the amount and modalities of payment of the fees will be set by decision of the Directory Board, and indicated in the World Cup registration form.

4. JURY
The Operational member (or the ILFIAP Club) responsible for the judgement of the World cup of clubs convoke a jury of 3 persons coming from 3 different countries (one president et two members) as well as 3 substitutes. No judge can be from the organising country.
For the composition of the jury, the operational member may call upon a photographer of merit, amateur or professional. He should ensure that the jury has a perfect knowledge of international photography.
The members of the jury are
exclusively chosen by the FIAP´s Directory Board.
The list of the jury members’ names has to appear on the registration form. Once the decision of the jury is set and approved, all of the judges have to sign off the result of the competition.

5. REUNION OF THE JURY

The reunion of the jury takes place according to the instructions of the organising Federation, in
agreement with the Director of the Service. The work of the jury and the results have to be finished and published in the respect of the date provided in the registration form.

6. WORK OF THE JURY

Each picture of a collection is presented individually and judged for its own value. It is recommended to mix artwork from different collections.
Every one of the 3 jury members has 9 points at his disposal for each artwork. The scoring of each work is the result of the addition of the points of the 3 jury members (therefore maximum 27, minimum 3).
The scoring of the collection is the result of the cumulative points of the 20 pieces of the collection
(therefore a maximum of 540).
The collection with the highest score wins the World cup of Clubs. In case of equality of points among clubs competing for the 4 first places of the classification, the jury members must take a decision, otherwise the vote of the President of the jury is decisive.
In addition to the World cup, the following prizes are awarded:
- To the club in second position: FIAP gold medal- To the club in third position: FIAP silver medal- to the club in fourth position: FIAP bronze medal- from 5th to 10th position: FIAP Honourable mention
Every author of the club winning the World cup receives an Honourable mention.
At the end of the competition, the jury will award 1 FIAP gold medal, 2 FIAP silver medals and 3 FIAP bronze medals, for the recognition of a work of exceptional quality.
Each jury member will nominate his own very favourite work.
The jury can decide additionally to award up to 5 specialised mentions: portrait, countryside, creativity, etc.
Each author can only receive one award.

7. TASKS OF THE PERSONS RESPONSIBLE FOR THE WORLD CUP AFTER THE JUDGEMENT

As soon as the judgement is over, the Organisation Board of the World cup of clubs sends the following elements to the Director of the World Cup Service:
1) the list of classification of clubs

3) the photo file with all notes

4) the original file of all the award-winning photos
These elements should only be sent by email and for the photo files, by
WeTransfer.com.

8. FINAL CLASSIFICATION, AWARD OF THE GRAND PRIZE « MAURICE DORIKENS »

The club obtaining the best result in the past 5 consecutive FIAP World cups is awarded the Grand Prize Maurice Dorikens. The Director of the World Cup Service is in charge of determining the recipient of this prize based on the synthesis of the results of the past five preceding years.
The calculation mode is as follows; each club receives a number of points based on its rank:
- 10 points for the first- 9 points for the second- And so on, down to one point for the 10th place.- in case of tie, the Clubs receive the same number of points- All clubs ranked after the 10th place receive no point.
The points obtained on 5 years are calculated for each club and the one having received the highest
number of points is awarded the grand prize « Maurice Dorikens ».
In case of tie, priority is given to the club with the best result for one (or several) of the 5 concerned
World cups.
In case of perfect equality, the difference will be made based on the individual prizes. The
announcement of the final classification will be given during the award ceremony.

Enter photo contest to win new camera

WITH summer upon us VisitWiltshire is calling on residents up and down the county to get out and about and capture the finest views on offer to be in with the chance of winning themselves a piece of new kit.

Castle Cameras in Salisbury are offering up a Nikon D3300 camera with 18-55 lens – worth over £300 – for the best photograph overall, plus two runners up prizes of a £50 gift voucher each to spend at Castle Cameras.

After a very busy year last year, in which the tourist board received scores of entries from budding photographers in Swindon and Wiltshire, they are urging snappers to make the most of the fine summer weather and get out and about to capture the most scenic shots they can find.

To be in with a chance of winning, your photos should capture the essence of life in Wiltshire, its people and landscape, and tie in with any of VisitWiltshire’s four ‘Timeless’ themes:

• Timeless Wonders: including Stonehenge, Avebury, Salisbury Cathedral, the Kennet & Avon Canal and Wiltshire’s White Horses

• Timeless Places: including market towns, villages and other attractions

• Timeless Pleasures: including shopping, food and drink, festivals and events, arts and entertainment

• Timeless Nature: including big skies, rolling hills, flora and fauna

Among some of the entries in last year’s competition were an atmospheric shot of Bradford on Avon by Andy Stevens, a stunning view from Cley Hill by Krzysztof Dac, and a swan at Langford Lakes by Martin Harris.

VisitWiltshire’s marketing manager Jenny Butler said: “The recent spell of lovely weather has provided plenty of opportunities for keen photographers to get out and about with their cameras – based on previous years we know there is loads of talent out there, so we are looking forward to seeing some amazing shots.”

“To be in with a chance of winning the fabulous first prize of a Nikon D3300 from Castle Cameras, images should capture the best of our beautiful county and tie in with any of VisitWiltshire’s ‘timeless’ themes: timeless wonders, timeless places, timeless pleasures and timeless nature.

“So think World Heritage Site, including Stonehenge and Avebury; rolling green downs and ancient woodlands; picturesque villages and bustling market towns; historic houses and country inns; timeless monuments and contemporary luxury; arts and culture; festivals and events; local ales and picnics in the park…

“Entrants can send in up to 8 images per calendar month from now until September, and there is still plenty of time to send in entries for July – we can’t wait to see them!”

The competition runs until Saturday, September 30. To give yourself the best chance of winning you can send in up to eight photographs per calendar month to arrive by midnight on the last day of each month.

Only colour, digital photos will be accepted and all photographs must be submitted as jpeg or tiff attachments, minimum resolution 300dpi.

For more details and full terms and conditions go to visitwiltshire.co.uk/competitions or email photocompetition@visitwiltshire.co.uk for an entry form.
