The closing date for the next order of Print Boxes will be Friday 22nd April 2016.
They should be available for collection at the Reps Meeting AGM/Finals Day to be held at Littleton on Sunday 8th May.
Nomad describe these boxes as Heavy Duty in that they have two webbing straps and moulded black plastic corners.
Handles can be supplied on any size box at an additional cost of £3.
Note: There are two types of handle – webbing handles and suitcase handles.
I wouldn't recommend the suitcase handles for boxes above 4 inches in depth.
Also handles can be a bit of a nuisance if you are going to be sending your box through the post on a regular basis. If you are ordering 6” deep boxes please bear in mind that they are a substantial weight when filled.

Mark's Winning RPS Photo

The Dog Walker
Congratulations to Mark for this image.
The Dog Walker was a winner in the RPS monthly online competition on the topic of Winter Landscapes.
It is reproduced in the RPS Journal March 2016 page 171 and also on the RPS Web site rps-365.org

Mark took this image on Cley Hill, Warminster just as two things happened. A blizzard started and a man and a dog strolled into view. Mark was there with the right kit on a tripod. As he said he a bit of luck.

Can you help this man about a statue in Salisbury in 1999?

Man with Arms Open
I am involved with the Salisbury Civic Society, which is considering a project to try to raise the funding to buy a new casting of a statue called the Man with Arms Open. This was in Salisbury market place, specifically on the NE corner of the Guildhall Square, as part of a Festival exhibition called Shape of the Century, in 1999. The exhibition ran from May 21st to August 19th that year.

We have photos, such as the one attached, showing the statue in its subsequent location at Canary Wharf, but one showing it in position in Salisbury would be very useful. The fact that it has previously been here, and was very popular (there was a campaign, unfortunately unsuccessful, to raise the money to buy it for the city) is a good argument in favour of bringing it back.

I have not so far managed to track a photo down, and was wondering if the Camera Club might be in a position to contact its members, to see if any of them have photos of the statue which they took in 1999? The idea is going to a committee of the city council on February 8th, with a request for it to agree to the principle of providing a site for the statue, and obtaining a photo for that meeting would be very useful. However if the committee is in favour, and initial soundings have been positive, being able to come up with a photo even after that date could be highly beneficial.

Many thanks

Chichester Camera Club Exhibition 16/17th Jan

Members of your Club are cordially invited to Chichester Camera Club’s fifteenth advanced members’ exhibition to be held on Saturday, 16th January 2016 at the North Mundham Village Hall. The exhibition will be open between 10 am and 5 pm with refreshments, light lunches and teas available throughout the day. If anyone cannot make it on the Saturday, we will be open on the following day (Sunday) between 10:00 am and 4:00 pm. We will also have refreshments available on that day.

Print exhibitors have had the choice of varying screen spaces with the freedom to display virtually any type of work they wish with no rules on size, subject matter technique, etc. whilst PDI workers are each allowed to have up to 4 images projected, again with no subject ruling. Based on our previous, similar exhibitions, this freedom of choice has resulted in a considerable display of artistic talent. The day has also proved to be a great social occasion.

We hope you will be able to visit us and look forward to meeting you on the 16th January. See our web site at http://chichestercameraclub.org.uk/

Kodak Downton connection

Following on from last nights talk by Ian Platt FRPS etc. I mentioned that the Eastman family came from Downton. After some time I tracked down the family eight generations back and got the link. See below.
The Eastman family was in Charlton {spelled Charelton above}, "Dounton Manor" as early as 1539. It is in these tumultuous times we begin the tracing of the Eastman name.*
